Northfield, formerly of Randolph, Hilda M. Surprise, 86, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Four Seasons Community Care Home in Northfield where she had resided since 2009.

She was born December 8, 1925 in Elmore the daughter of Howard and Jennie (Hastings) Surprise.

Hilda was raised in Ferrisburgh and attended Vergennes High School. She moved to Randolph in 1949. She worked at Van Raalte’s from 1949 until 1963. She then worked at Merrimaids and later at the Green Mountain Glove Co. all in Randolph. Hilda enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading and doing puzzles.

She is survived by her brothers; Leonard Surprise of Northfield Falls, Benjamin Surprise of Westfield, MA and Harry Surprise of Vergennes, a sister Norma Raymond of Burlington and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Hurbert and Albert Surprise

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13th, 11:00 A.M. at the Day Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Wotton officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Gage Cemetery, Ferrisburgh. Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 12th from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
