GRACE I. STEDMAN, 89, of Bethel, died early Saturday morning, June 16, 2012 at the Menig Extended Care Facility in Randolph.
She was born September 8, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY; the daughter of William and Irene (Cassler) Ferguson. She attended St. Joseph’s College in New York City, and was married to Howard W. Stedeman in St. Augustine, FL on Aug. 29, 1942. Grace was a longtime Bethel resident, and had worked as a teller at Proctor Trust, and as a telephone operator for New England Telephone. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and travelling.
Survivors include her son, Robert Stedman and wife, Jean Visi of Rutland; daughters, Irene White and husband, Gene of Milton, Theresa Thyng and husband, George of Williston, and Margaret “Peggy” Gliechowski and husband, Dan of Clearwater, FL; half brothers, William Ferguson of North Carolina and Dennis Ferguson and James Ferguson, both of Florida; half sister, Barbara Proctor of Florida; 13 grandchildre; 12 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Howard died in 1981.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am Tuesday, June 19th at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Randolph, with Rev. John Milanese, officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Menig Extended Care Facility, Patient Activity Fund, P.O.
